Ottawa, ON – Fans of the Ottawa Champions will have the opportunity in 2017 to once again see some of the top international talent in the game at RCGT Park.
The Cuban National Team will return for a second straight tour of the Can-Am League while the top independent team in South Korea, the Yeoncheon Miracle, will make their very first trip. Both teams will play a series each against the six Can-Am League teams between June 8th and June 29th.
The Cuban National Team played 20 games in the Can-Am League in 2016, finishing with an overall record of 11-9 and dazzling fans with their exciting style of play. In 2017 the team will be coming off an appearance in the World Baseball Classic, an event in which they won a bronze medal in 2006.
The Yeoncheon Miracle are the top-rated team outside of the country’s Korea Baseball Organization, and are located in Yeonchen County, about 30 minutes north of Seoul.
“Our fans really responded well when the Cuban National Team toured the league last year, and we expect they’ll be excited to see them again,” says Champions owner and Can-Am League commissioner Miles Wolff. “The addition of the Yeoncheon Miracle gives the fans an opportunity to experience a style of play they probably haven’t seen before.
Ottawa will play the Cuban National Team on Father’s Day weekend, June 16th to 18th, and then will play the Yeoncheon Miracle from June 27th to 29th.
