Boucher Inks New Deal to Return for Ninth Can-Am League Season

Ottawa, ON – The OTTAWA CHAMPIONS have re-signed OF SEBASTIEN BOUCHER to a contract for the 2017 season.

BOUCHER, 35, had an historic season is 2016, setting the Can-Am League records for hits, RBI, and runs scored in a career, and walks in a single season.

For the season the Gatineau, QC native batted .291 with eight homeruns and 55 RBI in 98 games in the regular season and continued his hot play in the playoffs, batting .371 with four RBI and nine runs scored in nine games.

“Sebastien has had a great career in the Can-Am League and I’m extremely happy to have him back again this year,” says Champions manager Hal Lanier. “He’s a very good athlete and a fine ambassador for the community in which he was raised.”

“I’m excited to get back on the field with the boys and defend our title,” says Boucher, who has won six Can-Am League championships in his eight seasons.

Boucher broke Jerod Edmondson’s career runs record on June 19th in a game against Cuba, and then a month later broke Chris Colabello’s career RBI record in a game in Quebec.

He broke Edmondson’s hits record on August 21st when he drove an RBI single up the middle in the first inning of a 9-2 win over the Trois-Rivieres Aigles.

Over his eight year Can-Am League career Boucher has a lifetime .312 average, 59 homeruns, 441 RBI and won the 2014 batting title.
